“I’m a good person, so if there is a heaven, I’m going.” A phrase we’ve heard a million times over. But let’s take a closer look at this statement.
Our fist mistake is that we are comparing ourselves to others, “I’m a good person”. In other words, we are better than those around us. We have created a scale in our minds and have
determined that we tip to the good side.
The second mistake is that we have given ourselves eternal life, “…if there is a heaven, I’m going.” This also means that those who tip to the bad side of our scale will go to
hell (you can't have one without the other). But who are we to determine the fate of ourselves, let alone the fate of others?
The truth is that our scale is flawed, and on our own, none of us deserve to go to heaven. It is God who created heaven, and therefore, it is His scale that we must measure up to.
He sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins and balance the scale so that we could have a relationship with Him, and someday, stand in heaven.
This starts with a choice. We must choose to live according to Gods scale of good and bad. Please read our
Faith FAQ to get answers to common questions about
making this choice, and if you are ready to live victoriously,
call, email, or stop by and we would be happy to help you change your life.
